So, I had an interview with KPMG Forensic today for their San Francisco office. I think it went really well. At the end of the interview, the interviewer said that it seemed like my skill set was a good match for them, and that he hoped to see me in San Francisco. That means that I will probably get a fly-out. A fly-out is when they fly you to the office and have you interview with some more people in the office that you would be working in. Fly-outs are towards the end of October, I think. I'm goin' to San Fran. Wahoo!
What seemed to impress him the most were the things I said I learned during my internship in New York. What are the chances? Heavenly Father sure knows what He's doing when he sends you to places across the country for no obvious reason--He's got it all planned out.
I am really warming up to the idea of working in San Fran. I wasn't so sold on the idea until after I had the interview, but once I talked with the interviewer, I started to get excited about it. I think that I might really end up there. Crazy. I would be working for one of the "Big Four" doing fraud investigation. How cool is that?
On another positive note, I hear that the weather is fairly temperate. Yay! No NY humidity. The beaches are nice too. You all can come visit me and play on the beach and be jealous that I live there. ;) I do hear, though, that it's fairly pricey--kind of like New York. A friend of mine that did an internship out there said that they would probably start me out at about $50-$55k. That would be amazing for Oregon, but I don't know how I'll fare with that income in SF. The rent for a studio apartment is about $1,300 a month! I guess I'll have to share!
The job actually starts next fall, so I would have to find something for over the summer. My co-worker will be having a baby in February or March, and I'm pretty sure they don't have someone to fill her spot. If I know Terry (my boss), she would love it if I could fill the other girl's spot for a little while--maybe over the summer (wink, wink)--until she can find someone else to replace us both. I'll update you when I know more. I should hear about fly-outs some time after October 11th.
