El Centro Histórico

Centro Histórico (historic center) of Quito.

The Basílica.

Catacombs under the Basílica.

Incredible architecture in the Basílica.

Steep cobblestone road in the historic center. Pictured on the left are Daniela, Jaime, and Juan Pablo--the girl, dad, and boy of the family I spent the day with.

The president's house. I got to take a tour of it. It was very cool, and beautiful inside.

Statue to the heroes of Ecuador's independence.

Cool cathedral in the plaza. We took a tour of the cathedral. This is a view from the president's house.

View of the plaza from the president's house.

View of a cool hotel from the president's house.

Soldier in front of the president's house.

Cool tree. It was REALLY tall. I took this from the 3rd floor balcony of the library.

Courtyard of the library where the cool trees were growing.

Another cool church in the historic center.

The San Francisco church in the historic center.

Another cool church.

View of north Quito.

North and central Quito.

Central Quito and the Basílica.

Central Quito (historic center).

Pichincha volcano and view of central Quito.

Central and north Quito.

End of the historic center. The statue on the hill is called Panecillo, and is of the virgin Mary. We ate at the Pim's restaurant up on that hill on Friday night. The view was incredible.

The Santacruz family I spent the day with. Daniela, Janeth, me, Andrés, Jaime, and little Juan Pablo hiding behind Jaime. Notice the fresh coconut in my hand? I drank the juice, which was tasty-ish. I don't love the juice. The coconut was yummy though.
