So here they are, per mom's request- pictures of our numerous and space consuming plants that are taking over our house. Okay, a little exaggeration, but sometimes I feel like I am living in a greenhouse because we have our humidifier running all day, and when I walk into the house I can hardly breath.....I guess if I can't live in Oregon, I will just bring Oregon into my house! :)

I had to come up with something to put our plants on because they were all sitting on the floor and getting in the way. And they needed to be closer to the sunlight. Grow, little plants, grow.

This is Chris' pick for our Christmas tree this year. I came home and saw this sitting in our living room with a tag that said "to Kathryn from Chris". He's so funny, I love it. It is a potted Norfolk pine, so it will still be here after Christmas... I don't know where we'll put it! I don't want to keep it where it is because it just pokes whoever is sitting on that end of the couch. I will have to think of something.
Sorry some of these pictures are sideways... but this it our coconut tree. You can see that it is just coming out of the coconut that is sitting on top of the soil. We had to put sand in our plants to get rid of the soil gnats, but the sand is only about and inch thick- the rest of it is just regular potting soil.

Here's a close up.
Look mom, a little lime baby! This is what our lime tree looks like up close- each flower produces a lime, you can see the yellow ends of all the little limes sticking out of the flowers and there is a little green lime in the center. The flowers smell good but you can't really smell them unless you get close.

A pretty little lime flower.

Some of the limes are getting pretty big.
The biggest lime ever! Almost ready to eat.
It's as big as my hand! Okay, not really. Mom wins with her giant potato.

Our lime tree in its entirety. Not really very big.

Our avocado! Thanks to Shannon's advice, we were able to get it to grow and it is growing pretty fast now. It grows about a quarter inch a day, ridiculously fast! We will have to plant it soon.

Oooooooohhhhhhh!!!!! LIMES!!!! I loves me some limes!!!! And coconuts too!!!! When you have both coconuts and limes, you can do what the song says- "Put de lime in de coconut...." :) Doesn't that make you think of Mom?

I think you should put little socks on the branches of the prickly pine so it won't poke people. They can double as decorations.
I like your lime babies. I want little lime babies.
You should post more often, because you're funny.

I was going to delete Elise's "put de lime in de coconut" since she stole it from me but I couldn't figure out how to edit the comment. She just wants to claim the funny thought. I figure, since I have so few funny thoughs, stealing them should not be allowed. I love your little limes. Bring one home for Christmas and we will have apple slices with Frakin lime on them. Mom
Frakin lime? Like Frankincense?
By the way, Elise & Mom, I don't think the rest of the family knows why your comment is so funny. I certainly have no idea what you're talking about. "Put de lime in de coconut." What is that? I think an explanation is in order.

I actually don't even know what it's from, but Mom says it all the time, and I just think it's funny to hear her say it. :)

Hmmm let's ask the brain trust.... Dad? Harumph ahh well it's all very complicated mmmm let me see if I can simplify it. It's from a song. Thank you, thank you. Really it was nothing. Glad to be of help. Frakin. I would glady pay you Tuesday for a lime today. I would also like a coconut. How long till I can get one of them? I love your trees. There just too cool. Did the sand clear up the problem? Love Dad
