We managed to go another year without turning the heat on until after Halloween. :) For those of you who don't know, here's the story. Many years ago, I am guessing at least 20, we had a very warm fall and we didn't need to turn the heat on. It was close to Halloween so I decided to see if we could make it that far without turning it on. This started a tradition of trying to get to Halloween every year without having to use the heat. We have only failed a few times. One of the mornings this year it was only 55 in the house, but we ( or should I say I ) toughed it out and some afternoon sun and some baking made the evening ok. Most days we have hovered around 60-62. It's not bad with a sweater. Having the new windows in the house has made a huge difference. ( Thanks again Keith and Sue ) We are supposed to have sunny weather for a few more days so I am planning to continue a bit longer. I know this is crazy, but that's what makes it so fun.

Some people get their thrills from skydiving, bungee jumping, base jumping, etc. Mom gets hers from leaving the heat off until after Halloween. You're livin' on the edge, Mom!

awsome! jon insulated the heck out of our new house and even with a concrete floor it stays pretty darn warm. i have the heaters set at 65 and they usually dont turn on during the day unless the kids leave the doors open. i am determined not to spend over 200 dollars a month for electricity. we have only had one bill for 95 so i am hoping we can do this!
Ohhh Mother. All the memories of freezing just make me miss home soooooo much! : ) Just kidding. : )
You're funny Mom.
